Verimatrix: Companies need to demonstrate how services will add real benefits without compromising privacy

What is the most important next step to engage consumers in smart home solutions, connected entertainment services, and/or value-added services like tech support and connected health?

The most important next step to get consumers engaged and participating in connected services is to establish a more compelling and user-friendly value proposition for data harvesting and curation. Companies need to demonstrate how these services will add real benefits for consumers without feeling like their privacy is being invaded.

What is the biggest challenge your company faces in 2016?

The biggest challenge Verimatrix faces in 2016 is to rapidly expand our partner ecosystem so we can effectively broaden our security and data analytics integration initiatives via our Verspective Intelligence Center.

What is the biggest driver for the connected consumer market?

The biggest driver for connected consumer markets is “frictionless” self-setup and billing processes for connected device operation.

What are the most important initiatives your company is taking in 2016?

We have many important initiatives in 2016, but at the top is enabling the benefits of security and data analytics on all connected device for operators of all sizes.

Describe your vision for the smart home and entertainment markets in 2020.

Our vision for smart home and entertainment markets in 2020 includes many different elements:

  • The idea of “frictionless” provisioning of consumer equipment into the connected home environment
  • Elimination of password management challenges for devices
  • Recognition of value for managed security services over the lifetime of the device or application
  • Integration of home entertainment and home management
  • Integrated mix of personal and professional entertainment and informational content
