“We are constantly exploring new ways to bring the most advanced medical technology to our patients in the retail clinic setting and improve the efficiency of the care we deliver,” said Tobias Barker, MD, Vice President of Medical Operations, CVS/MinuteClinic, CVS Health. “With increased patient demand anticipated in future years as a result of the Affordable Care Act, the primary care physician shortage and other factors, telehealth will allow us to extend services to a greater number of patients while continuing to offer exceptionally high-quality care.”

“Collaboration and connectedness have always been central to community health,” said John Mattison, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer & Assistant Medical Director, Kaiser Permanente. “Digital technologies and avatars will amplify that connectedness and health.  Several pioneers in the gift economy are blazing trails for using digital technology to improve health while reducing social inequities.  We can and should nurture these models of ‘compassionate digital science.’”
