Parks Associates, Sentrian, and Validic to Discuss Health Analytics and Consumer Privacy Concerns at the Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers

Special session focuses on data analytics and business strategies in connected healthcare

Parks Associates today announced a special Fireside Chat: Integrating Health Analytics into Business Strategies, featuring executives from Sentrian and Validic, at the second-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers, September 9-10, in San Diego. The companies will address consumer attitudes towards privacy as well as strategies to balance analytic capabilities with consumer concerns in order to deliver personalized healthcare solutions.

“Consumers have a genuine concern about the security and privacy of their personal health data,” said Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates. “Data collected by digital health is extremely valuable in guiding consumer care solutions to positive outcomes, but companies must be up front about their data usage and demonstrate to consumers the real, tangible benefits of sharing their data.”

Parks Associates digital health research finds 31% of connected health device owners have privacy or security concerns related to that device but consumer willingness to share data varies by device. Currently 42% of digital pedometer owners in U.S. broadband households would be willing to share the data from the device for a discount on health insurance premiums, compared to only 27% of owners of a connected exercise equipment and 26% of owners of a connected sleep quality monitor.

“The value of consumer data is only now starting to emerge, and few health industry players have tapped into this potential data resource,” Kent said. “The industry needs consistent policies and demonstrable benefits to allay consumer concerns and create widespread engagement. With proper analysis and context, data can give consumers new insights into their healthcare and help providers and payers identify how best to reduce costs.”

Fireside Chat: Integrating Health Analytics into Business Strategies” will be held at 2:45 P.M. on Thursday, September 10. Dean Sawyer, Co-Founder and CEO at Sentrian, and Drew Schiller, CTO and Co-Founder at Validic, will provide insight into platforms and strategies for integrating health analytics into care treatment plans, research and product designs, and institutional operating and marketing plans. The companies will also share their thoughts on how data analytics can test and validate outcomes and improve clinical decision making.
