Data protection is top consumer demand among connected home support solutions

CONNECTIONS™ IoT support session examines strategies to curate IoT experiences and protect consumer privacy

New Parks Associates research shows that 59% of U.S. broadband households planning to purchase a smart home device are interested in a support service that guarantees the security of their device from unauthorized access. This option was the most popular value-added service among smart home shoppers, while services that resolve technical issues or provide tools for the user to address problems each gained interest from 45% of potential buyers.

The 21st-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, May 23-25 in San Francisco, will feature the special session “Supporting End-to-End Consumer Experience” to examine new opportunities and requirements emerging in support for smart home solutions, including services to personalize the IoT experience while ensuring user security and privacy.

High Appeal of Smart Home Device Support Services | Parks Associates

“The entire consumer experience in the smart home is evolving into a curated experience,” said Patrice Samuels, Senior Analyst, Parks Associates. “Changes in the retail channel illustrate this shift, where smart home products are moving from shelves and endcaps to ‘experience centers,’ which offer consultations, consumer education, cross-category product comparisons, and out-of-the box product demos.”

“Supporting End-to-End Consumer Experience,” sponsored by Asurion, will be held at 11:15 a.m. on May 24 and tackles the challenges in building new IoT support strategies. Participating speakers include:

  • Scott P. Ford, CEO, Pepper IoT
  • Greg Kruczek, Director, New Ventures, Asurion
  • Rusty Lhamon, Sr. Director, Solutions for IoT, T-Mobile
  • Elizabeth Mathes, Director, Smart Home, The Home Depot

“With a rapidly growing knowledge gap between connected home products and consumers’ ability to seamlessly integrate the latest technology into their everyday lives, it is imperative that we provide the tools that allow them to fully tap their tech’s potential,” said Greg Kruczek, Director, New Ventures, Asurion. “By utilizing personalized, end-to-end technology support from companies such as Asurion, we can help fill this gap and create a better connected home experience for customers.”
