This webinar, featuring Parks Associates data on the growing use of voice control for home security and automation, evaluates the various methods for providing voice control that work for the product design process while ensuring quality of service for mission-critical use cases.
Voice control has quickly taken a leading role in how consumers experience the connected home. Product manufacturers and service providers increasingly enable voice control for products as varied as security systems, smoke detectors, lights, wearables, and smart TVs. Reliable voice can be a compelling interface for mission-critical events, such as emergency detection and response, while two-way voice support opens new use cases in the connected home. Product manufacturers must decide how to incorporate voice control into their products – embedded voice, “works with” APIs – and which voice standards to support.

At National Semiconductor held variety of engineering, engineering management and business management positions; involved in development and management of award winning, innovative projects. Avi holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Doug Bellenger is senior director, product management, at ADT where he directs product management for ADT smart home security. Doug has led product development and user experience teams in the security, smart home and video industries for nearly a decade. Prior to joining ADT through an acquisition, he lead product development at DIY security company, LifeShield. At ADT, Doug lead the development of ADT’s first line of DIY smart home security products created completely in-house. He received a MBA from Drexel University in Technology Management and a bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Bill Scheffler is a long-time fixture in the smart home world with many years driving the growth of connectivity technologies that make smart home easy and affordable for consumers. He currently leads business development for Synaptics (Nasdaq: SYNA) one of the world’s most innovative intelligent system providers, a role he retained after Synaptics’ acquisition of DSP Group where Bill has been driving the ULE technology adoption in the smart home and security channels in North America. Prior to Synaptics Bill was a major player on the Zensys and then Sigma Designs team that built the Z-Wave ecosystem leading to the Z-Wave business unit being acquired by Silicon Labs in 2018.
