Receiving live TV on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer is a popular feature throughout Western Europe, with 30% of broadband households highly interested in these TV Everywhere services. Connected Consumer in Europe surveyed 10,000 broadband households across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K., providing a detailed picture of the broadband home in each of these nations. The study examined services received and desired, digital product ownership and purchasing, demand for value-added services, use of digital media, and mobile/convergence habits and usage.

Among the Western European nations surveyed, household penetration of connected devices, including connected TVs, game consoles, and Blu-ray players, is 30-40%. Game consoles are the most often connected to the Internet; however, Blu-ray players lead all other CE devices in Internet video viewing, with one-third of owners using these devices to watch online movies or TV shows.

Multiscreen services are growing in popularity across Western Europe. As the number of connected devices in the home increases, consumers want more flexibility when viewing quality video content – movies and TV shows. Operators have noted these trends and are rolling out new multiscreen services to capitalize on their growing popularity.
