Less than 10% of Western European broadband households familiar with smart products
CONNECTIONS™ Europe to highlight smart home products and connected entertainment research, 10-11 November, in Amsterdam
New Parks Associates research shows low consumer familiarity with smart home technologies in key European markets, while one-third of broadband households have strong concerns about the security of smart home products. The firm reports familiarity highest in France, where 12% of broadband households are very familiar with smart home products and services, compared to less than 10% in the U.K., Spain, and Germany. Between one-fourth and one-third of broadband households in these European markets have security concerns about smart home products.
Parks Associates will address strategies to increase familiarity and allay security concerns with IoT and smart home technologies at the tenth-annual CONNECTIONS™ Europe – IoT: Connected Entertainment and the Smart Home, 10-11 November, NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Amsterdam.
“Like the U.S., the European connected home market is on its way to steady growth,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “However, while the U.S. has an established foundation of security service to build on, energy providers, insurance companies, telcos, and retailers throughout Europe will have to share the load of driving consumer interest and creating new business models that lower barriers to adoption of new products and services.”
