Parks Associates Announces Keynotes and Agenda for 2015 CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference

International research firm hosts connected home conference May 19-21 in San Francisco, CA

Parks Associates today announced the keynotes and preliminary agenda for the 19th-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, taking place May 19-21, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport.  Keynote speakers from Comcast’s Xfinity Home, Nest, and Samsung will join industry leaders and Parks Associates analysts to address critical business issues pertaining to the converging entertainment, media, and service markets for consumers.

Parks Associates research shows 16% of U.S. broadband households own at least one smart home device and 37% plan to purchase one or more in the next 12 months. In entertainment services, approximately 50% of U.S. broadband households have an OTT video subscription, with Netflix in the lead, although 16% of households now have an Amazon Prime Instant Video subscription. Over the next 12 months, 35% of U.S. broadband households plan to purchase a smartphone, 21% plan to buy a flat-panel TV, and 13% plan to buy a streaming media player.

“Consumers are bringing a variety of advanced solutions into the home, driven by their desire for convenience, control, and choice in their home systems and entertainment services,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “Companies can leverage these technologies to offer unique value propositions and use cases as part of a successful connected home strategy. At CONNECTIONS™, we will explore the best strategies to connect with consumers through innovating offerings in the Internet of Things, connected entertainment, and the smart home.”

2015 Keynote speakers include:

  • Eric Anderson, VP, Content and Product Solutions; GM, Smart Home, Samsung
  • Daniel Herscovici, SVP & GM, Xfinity Home, Comcast Cable
  • Mike Soucie, Head of Consumer Product Partnerships, Nest

“We are experiencing a continuous wave of innovation for intelligent living,” said Eric Anderson, VP, Content and Product Solutions; GM, Smart Home, Samsung. “IoT is the canopy for how our past and current investments in mobile, home entertainment, and the connect home can start to work together to enhance our many lifestyles. But the customer and end user expectations are higher than ever, and the need for instant gratification is a must.  The connected home could be one of our biggest opportunities, as long as the experiences, offerings, and technology are rooted in reality.”

“This is an exciting time to be involved with the connected home and the Internet of Things,” said Dan Herscovici, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Xfinity Home for Comcast Cable. “There are so many home security and automation features that have gone mainstream, and yet there are so many more innovations and possibilities to come."
