Masimo Examines the Connected Health Market

by Parks Associates | Sep. 17, 2014

Paul Jansen, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Masimo shares his insights at the Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers. Paul spoke on the "Healthy Living, Connected Devices, and Wearables" panel at the 2014 event.

What is the most important next step for healthcare providers to engage consumers in digital health solutions?
Consumers need to better understand why they should monitor a certain parameter, what technology is best to monitor this parameter to avoid false positives and false negatives, how frequently to monitor, and what to do with the information.

What will be the biggest impact for consumers as a result of digital health solutions?
By taking control of their own health management with digital health, consumers will be empowered to make their health care more efficient and effective. To do this, consumers will first have to be educated – by their healthcare provider and by themselves.

What will be the biggest driver for digital health market?
The payer model is shifting more and more to the patient, who are increasing paying more out of their own pocket for health care. This is creating more leverage than ever to aggressively pursue digital health for both wellness and disease management.
