Pay-TV market in the U.S. remains strong

It is expected that the U.S. has more than 103 million pay-TV households at end-2014, according to Parks Associates, which also reports that two-thirds of the subscribers are seeking access to functions that do not currently have.

"Remote access to DVR content was the most popular pay television households without that service. Our research shows 31 percent of pay TV subscribers want to access the remote DVR, while 27 percent are interested in TV Everywhere and 26 percent in personal recommendations, "said John Barrett, director of analysis Parks Associates consumption. "In order for these services to be successful, providers must increase their awareness of balancing supply and cost concerns of its subscriber base."

Parks Associates says more than DISH Network, some providers offer remote access to the DVR content due to licensing restrictions. Currently, 47 percent of video consumed on TV now comes from nonlinear sources.
