Smart Home Serving 50+ Population

by Parks Associates | May. 13, 2019

The United States population is greying, with more baby boomers entering retirement age every day. The number of Americans age 65 and older is expected to reach over 80 million by 2050. At present, the U.S. healthcare system is ill-equipped to handle the growing number of elderly individuals, many of whom will have specific health needs and may lack sufficient retirement funds.

Companies across many different industries are developing solutions to help seniors live comfortably in their own homes for longer. These range from home automation and health monitoring solutions, to on-demand services for transportation, home maintenance, and grocery delivery, and even to the nascent autonomous vehicle market. These solutions have a vital role to play in making aging comfortable and safe for seniors, affordable and convenient for family members, and improving peoples’ quality of life.
