SunPower and Tendril Partner Up for Better Home Energy Management with Solar

Parks Associates research shows consumers are interested in reducing their energy use—the firm's recent home energy management industry report shows 84% of U.S. broadband households took at least one action to reduce energy usage or costs in the last 12 months.

Recently, SunPower announced a partnership with energy management software designer Tendril, allowing the company to integrate solar array data into a new home energy management service. Consumers will now be able to see the best times to operate energy-heavy appliances based on peak times of solar energy generation. Potentially, consumers could become energy independent using the new service.

While the partnership announcement is beneficial for consumers, utilities, too, will benefit. By exchanging the program's data with utilities, utilities can determine the best use of the solar energy by the grid, thereby determining the best uses of grid electricity by consumers.

Parks Associates will examine opportunities for utilities, service providers, retailers, and manufacturers to fulfill the unmet needs of consumers during the sixth-annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer. This year's event will take place February 16-18, 2015 at the Four Seasons hotel in Austin, TX.
