The Greatest Disruption to the Entertainment Industry - Insights from FITE.tv

by Parks Associates | Nov. 25, 2019

Kim Hurwitz, Chief Marketing Officer, FITE.tv gave her insights on the entertainment industry prior to the Parks Associates’ Future of Video: OTT, Pay TV, and Digital Media.

Kim will participate on the expert panel Engaging the Consumer: Sales, Marketing, and Social Media for Video Services on Wednesday, December 11 at 11:15 am. Panelists who will join her on this session include:

  • Jake Katz, SVP Strategy, Trailer Park
  • Anthony Jiwa, Chief Marketing Officer, OUTtv

The greatest disruption to the entertainment industry:

It could be, finally.... a real solution to the challenge of great content discovery...on the magnitude of when the world got its first Internet search engine...Compuserve/Lycos/Netscape/Bing/Yahoo/Google.....BUT this will be for Content, and probably voice-activated at first and then via haptics.

The technology most likely to affect video services:

See above, and maybe 5G and maybe how we pay for things

The evolution of OTT video services:

We'll stop using this acronym and call it whatever the market leaders FAANGF call it (I added FITE)

Changes in the user experience:

Lines will further blur between Content and Social Media

What pay-TV will be like:

Packaged bundles of SVOD, AVOD and PPV services...kind of like the video offerings of cable and satellite MVPDs, but more curated and interactive and truly TV Everywhere: digital, mobile, OTT on every screen.
