AT&T and Digi Join Utility Forces for Smart Grid Soulutions

AT&T and Digi are working together to jointly offer Digi X-Grid Solutions. Digi X-Grid Solutions is a suite of products and services designed to bring connectivity to energy-oriented devices in homes and businesses. Utilities and software providers that develop for the smart grid industry can use Digi X-Grid Solutions to more effectively meet customers' energy demand. Smart grids first emerged as a way to monitor energy use and reduce consumption, and at the current rate, the smart grid market is expected to grow into $31 billion/year market by 2014.

Utilities are currently beginning to transition beyond the meter, into a set of applications that will help transform the electric energy industry. Utilities and independent software developers for the smart grid industry will be able to us the Digi X-Grid Solutions as a way to monitor usage across their smart grids, and to shift power consumption from point to point.

Consumers on the AT&T network, whose energy providers offer Digi X-Grid Solutions, can also achieve more efficient power use and cost savings through use of connected thermostats and the Digi Energy Daytrader mobile app. This app will allow home and business owners to adjust room temperatures remotely.
