AT&T to launch daily deal offering with $10 credit
In an effort to compete in the billion-dollar market for online coupons, AT&T will introduce its own discount site sometime in the next month, in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth. On its yellowpages.com subsidiary site, AT&T is sweetening the deal for consumers who register by giving them a $10 credit.
AT&T, the second-largest U.S. wireless carrier, will be competing in the market against Groupon, and a growing number of new entrants, including Facebook and New York Times Co. According to a recent projection, the U.S. daily deals market, with discounts of as much as 90 percent at restaurants, clothing stores and nail salons, will rise to $3.93 billion in 2015, up from $1.25 billion this year.
AT&T plans to roll out the daily deal site to other cities and offer it on mobile devices.
