Parks Associates analysts report personalization, bundling are keys to driving the 2015 user experience in new IoT whitepaper at CES

Market research firm discusses new connected consumer research with industry leaders at CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES

Parks Associates announced a new whitepaper at CES 2015 today showing personalization, created through data analytics, unique interfaces, and targeted product features, will be the key factor in creating product and service differentiation in 2015. The whitepaper The Connected Consumer: Top Trends in IoT cites increased competition in the connected home in 2015 and provides expert insight into global trends for the Internet of Things, entertainment and streaming services, digital media, digital health, tech support, mobile services and apps, and smart home and energy technologies.

The Parks Associates whitepaper reports that 37% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart home device in 2015. Already one-third of all video viewing occurs on platforms other than a TV, such as a smartphone or tablet.

“Most companies are only scratching the surface when it comes to personalization and effective utilization of big data,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “Data analytics and constant connectivity give companies the tools they need to provide an enhanced user experience, which will be the key differentiator in 2015. Companies like Google and Amazon need to differentiate to compete, and so they are pushing ahead with offerings that align with their customers' habits to create a unique experience. Companies that fail to leverage this powerful tool will continue to struggle.”

Parks Associates discussed 2015 business strategies and consumer research at the firm’s CONNECTIONS™ Summit: Monetizing Smart Home Solutions and Connected Devices event at 2015 International CES on Tuesday, January 6. The one-day executive summit included six panel sessions followed by a networking-and-cocktails reception sponsored by Greenwave Systems. Event sponsors are Alarm.com, Amdocs, Axiros, Ayla Networks, CSS Corp, EcoFactor, Emerson, Lowe’s, Qualcomm, Resolution Products, ROC-Connect, Support.com, ULE Alliance, and WeatherBug Home.
