Internet of Things, connected entertainment, and smart home a key focus at CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES® 2016

Parks Associates Announces Topics and Call for Papers for 10th-annual executive event

Parks Associates today announced the call for papers for the tenth-annual CONNECTIONS™ Summit: IoT, Entertainment, and the Connected Consumer, taking place January 6-7 at CES® 2016 in Las Vegas. The two-day executive Summit will feature interactive panel discussions focused on emerging areas critical to the growth of the connected home, including OTT video, wearables, the Internet of Things (IoT), tech support, and more.

“Service bundling provides a significant advantage to providers in the smart home and IoT,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “Telcos and cable companies are expanding their presence in areas like the security space and expanding their revenue per customer by bundling these services with traditional service offerings. Companies need offerings that increase ARPU while giving consumers choice in their services. CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES examines the best services and products to meet these goals, with participants from leading service providers, manufacturers, and technology and entertainment companies.”

The CONNECTIONS™ Summit agenda includes nine executive sessions and a networking-and-cocktail reception at the start of CES. The sessions, moderated by Parks Associates analysts, feature new research on service provider strategies, connected home devices, digital media, connected health, and value-added services.

Topics:

  • Entertainment, Smart Home, & Health: Accelerating Growth in IoT
  • Driving Mass-Market Adoption through Interoperability
  • Opportunities for Wearables in Connected Health and the Smart Home
  • Cloud-based CE and Virtualization: The Impact on OTT and Pay-TV Services
  • Integrating IoT into Smart Home Platforms
  • Support Solutions: Securing the Connected Home and IoT
  • IoT: Smart Home Solutions and Value-Added Services
  • Monetization Strategies for the Connected Home: Partnerships and Business Models
  • Personalization and Big Data: Consumer Privacy and Security Concerns

“Streaming media devices are the third most commonly owned connected CE device, and roughly one-fifth of consumers buying a streaming media device now are purchasing an additional streaming device for their home,” Sikes said. “The popularity of on-demand online content is triggering a sharp increase in the number of connected CE devices in the home as well as modifying the relationship consumers have with their smartphones.”

Early CONNECTIONS™ Summit sponsors include Affinegy, AirTies, Icontrol Networks, MivaTek, ROC-Connect, and ULE Alliance.
