43% of U.S. broadband households intend to purchase a smart home device in the next year

Parks Associates and Cirrent to host special session on smart home device adoption at CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES

New research from Parks Associates shows ownership of smart home products increased by over 50% in the last year, with even stronger growth expected as 43% of U.S. broadband households plan to purchase a smart home device in the next 12 months. Parks Associates and industry executives from Affinegy, Cirrent, ecobee, ULE Alliance, and Wi-Fi Alliance will examine the factors driving adoption of smart home solutions during the session “Ease of Use, Interoperability, and Mass-Market Adoption,” 2:30 p.m. on January 6, 2016 at CONNECTIONS™ Summit: IoT, Entertainment, and the Connected Consumer.

“Connectivity opens the door to new, highly differentiated products and services, but interoperability remains a challenge,” said Tom Kerber, Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates. “Connecting products to networks and other products is essential, yet a secure, plug-and-play experience is still uncommon in the smart home. Network standards, application standards, and APIs are all part of the solution.”

Parks Associates will host the tenth-annual CONNECTIONS™ Summit at CES® 2016 on January 6-7 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The session “Ease of Use, Interoperability, and Mass-Market Adoption,” sponsored by Cirrent, analyzes factors impacting adoption of connected products, the importance of interoperability, and the new ways companies are addressing ease of use to create a seamless experience for consumers.

Kerber will moderate the session at 2:30 p.m. on January 6, with the following speakers:

  • Avi Barel, Director, Business Development, ULE Alliance
  • Robert Conant, CEO, Cirrent
  • Edgar Figueroa, CEO, Wi-Fi Alliance
  • Art Lancaster, CTO, Affinegy
  • Stuart Lombard, President and CEO, ecobee

CONNECTIONS™ Summit: IoT, Entertainment, and the Connected Consumer will be held in the Venetian Hotel, Level 4, Room Marcello 4501.
