36% of US broadband households own a smart speaker with voice assistant

CONNECTIONS  to address roles of service providers in providing comprehensive smart home solutions with special session sponsored by F-Secure

New data from Parks Associates shows in early 2019, 36% of US broadband households own at least one smart speaker with a voice assistant. The international research firm will explore new opportunities for service providers in the smart home space emerging from voice and other innovations at the 23rd-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, May 21-23, San Francisco, California.

“As more households adopt smart speakers, the percentage of households using these devices as a smart home hub, to control at least one smart home device, will also increase, and service and security providers can use voice assistants to offer new benefits to consumers,” said Denise Ernst, VP, Parks Associates. “Voice control is driving smart home integration through a simplified experience, and Vivint and Alarm.com are leading the industry by integrating their security systems with Amazon Echo. At CONNECTIONS™, we will explore the opportunities these IoT innovations create for service providers."

The session “Service Providers: Defining New Roles in the Smart Home,” sponsored by F-Secure, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, examines the unique position of service providers in the smart home ecosystem and presents strategies to capitalize on consumers’ needs regarding connected devices in the home. Brad Russell, Director, Connected Home, Parks Associates, will moderate the session.
