Is the reason Virgin Media doesn’t have home security or health options because of CCTV and social healthcare?

Parks Associates Chart: Home SecurityWe all know that there is a connection between government policy, and general broadband deployment/regulation. The culture that exists within a country is also a big motivator, both is subscription and innovation. But everywhere you go, we all have bodies, and those bodies require upkeep. That is why it is a bit of a surprise to discover that broadband providers in some countries have very little involvement, if any at all, in the health of their customers.

In North America, health management apps are really starting to emerge into a market of their own. Everything from weight management, to the precarious monitoring of serious conditions of everything from diabetes to cancer, are showing up in apps, on-demand and cloud-based services. However, in the UK no personalized health systems can be found. Could this be a symptom of the public health care system? Similarly, Virgin Media (UK) has none of the eager race into Home Security systems, like their American cousins. This is easily explained by the CCTV, which keep residents secure on the public dollar. Why buy a home security system, when the government is already providing you one for free?

Similar trends are visible with Deutsche Telekom (Germany) and Orange (France).
