Parks Associates Senior Research Director to Address System-Wide Approaches to Digital Health at mHealth + Telehealth World

Parks Associates today announced Harry Wang, Senior Director of Research at Parks Associates, will speak next week at mHealth + Telehealth World to address the rising consumerism in the U.S. healthcare industry and examine system-wide approaches to digital health. He will also discuss new findings from the firm’s 360 View: Empowering Healthcare Consumers, which includes a 2Q 2016 survey of U.S. broadband households on connected healthcare attitudes and adoption.

“The signs of rising consumerism in the U.S. healthcare market are evident. One in seven U.S. broadband households are interested in a remote health monitoring solution, offered by a hospital/physician group, and receiving reminders from them about how to manage chronic health conditions,” Wang said. “This trend in healthcare is a transformative one to which the U.S. healthcare industry is trying to adapt. Care providers have gradually recognized that their role will change and expand. This role expansion requires doctors and their staff to heed consumers’ needs and challenges and respect their choices and preferences.”

Wang will moderate the panel “Create a System-Wide Approach to Digital Health” on Monday, July 25, at 9:30 a.m. in Boston. Joining Wang on the panel will be Sunil Budhrani, Chief Medical Officer, Innovations Health; Peter Kung, System Vice President, Virtual Health, SCL Health System; and Luis Taveras, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Barnabas Health.

“Once care providers have a clear picture of who their customers are, what motivates them, and how to reach and engage them, care providers can incorporate this knowledge into various business and operational areas, including offering remote health monitoring or virtual visit services,” Wang said.

Parks Associates research also notes that a similar percentage of consumers are interested in health coaching services that address their self-care and personal wellbeing needs.

Parks Associates is supporting mHealth + Telehealth World, a two-day event for healthcare executives interested in learning how to most efficiently utilize digital health programs to engage consumers, improve outcomes, and lower costs. Wang will also speak at Parks Associates’ third-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers, Aug. 30 – Sept. 1 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, CA. The event analyzes the role of innovative connected health solutions in driving changes in consumer behaviors as well as healthcare systems, insurers, and hospital networks.
