24% of consumers with a sleep disorder want to know more about connected health technology solutions

Senior Research Director to Present Keynote Address at Sleep Technology Summit, September 26

Parks Associates today announced Harry Wang, Senior Director of Research at Parks Associates, will present the opening keynote this week at Sleep Technology Summit and address new connected health research on sleep health and the sleep technology market. According to 360 View: Empowering Healthcare Consumers, 24% of consumers with sleep disorders are interested in getting more information on new connected health devices that could help manage their condition.

“Nearly 60% of consumers have at least one chronic condition, and sleep disorders are among the top five of health complaints,” Wang said. “Connected health solutions can target this population through wearable devices, such as the Fitbit One, which integrates sleep monitoring with its activity tracker solution so that it can count steps during the day and the number of hours the user sleeps at night.”

Informational Interests among U.S. Respondents with a Sleep Disorder

The new research shows 13% of U.S. broadband households report having some sort of sleep disorder, and on average, U.S. consumers get sufficient sleep (at least seven hours) only six out of every 10 days. Over one-third of consumers acknowledge a need to better manage their sleep, and more than 40% of those with a sleep disorder are interested in receiving information about better daily routines.

Wang will discuss the new research during his keynote address “Sleep Tech Industry, Statistics and Trends” on Monday, September 26, at 8:05 a.m. PT in Santa Clara, California. Joining Wang at Sleep Technology Summit are speakers from The Sleep Doctor, WHOOP, Jawbone, ?URA, Quietyme, Beddit, ReST, Marriott International Global Operations, We Are Curious, Samsung, Rythm, and Somnoware Healthcare Systems.

Parks Associates is supporting Sleep Technology Summit, a one-day event co-located with the Health 2.0 Fall Conference, which explores trends in sleep data, technology’s role in the bedroom environment, lessons learned from technology experts, the future of sleep tech, and the latest products from sleep tech innovators.
