Parks Associates Announces Partnership with Digital Media Wire and GSMA for Disruptive Media Conference at 2014 NAB Show

Analysts highlight key changes in online video content programming, distribution, and advertising

Parks Associates today announced consumer research that nearly one-half (47%) of video consumed on a TV set in the U.S. now comes from non-linear sources. To explore the implications of shifting video usage, Parks Associates has partnered with NAB Show, GSMA, and Digital Media Wire to produce several sessions at the Disruptive Media Conference during the 2014 NAB Show, April 5-10, 2014, in Las Vegas.

“The broad availability of high-speed broadband has radically changed the marketplace for entertainment and consumer electronics; already 36% of all video viewing in the U.S. occurs on a smartphone, tablet, or PC,” said Brett Sappington, Director, Research, Parks Associates. “We are excited about this unique opportunity to showcase our broadband and entertainment research and highlight new consumer trends.”

Parks Associates, a key partner of NAB Show, is producing programming and sessions at the Disruptive Media Conference, a two-day event featuring topics like gaming, content curation, video advertising, and TVE and OnDemand, among others.

“The undeniable shift in consumer media consumption habits has been a topic of much discussion at NAB Show,” said NAB Executive Vice President, Conventions and Business Operations, Chris Brown.  “We look forward to exploring these trends further through this dynamic session.”

Brett Sappington will moderate two sessions during the Disruptive Media Conference:

Disruption and Opportunity in the Connected Home

  • Jim Denney, VP, Product Marketing, TiVo
  •  Roger Keating, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, Hearst Television
  • GW Shaw, VP, U-verse and Video Services, AT&T

Upended: Disruption and the New Connected Ecosystem

  • Jim Funk, SVP Product Management, Roku
  • Eric F. Reed, VP of Entertainment and Tech Policy, Verizon
  • Giorgio Vanzini, SVP, Product Development & Integration, DirecTV

“The connected world is changing consumer habits and producing new use cases as well as new opportunities and competition,” Sappington said. “During the sessions, we will discuss new business models and revenue opportunities with key executives from leading technology and service providers.”
