What is the greatest challenge facing the video industry over the next three years?
The media entertainment industry is in a state of flux right now with more and more high quality content available across a growing number of apps, platforms, and devices. For consumers, this means finding that content is increasingly frustrating, not to mention costly, as they’re forced to subscribe to a number of streaming services to find what they want, or something new they may love. The resulting app fatigue is a major pain point for consumers, when all they want is an affordable and enjoyable experience across the media they care about, on the devices they own. It’s why cord-cutting is on the rise, as people look to put together their “perfect” package, but as an industry we have not yet delivered that simple and consistent experience.

This desire for simplicity is one of the driving forces behind voice-activated devices - what’s simpler than just using your voice to find what you want! And while the benefits of voice-enabled technology are many, it’s the simplification it brings to searching through an ever-increasing ocean of content that is arguably its biggest appeal. That’s only a short-term solution for the much bigger industry challenge of making content search and discovery a better experience for everyone.
