Over the next several decades, the number of Americans age 65 and older will double to over 80 million by 2050. Three out of four consumers ages 40 and older expect to live in their own homes when they turn 80, and the costs of assisted living facilities will make aging in the home the only option for many Americans. In response, companies across industries are developing solutions to help seniors live comfortably in their own homes for longer. In this research presentation, Parks Associates analysts present the findings of a consumer survey detailing the living needs of seniors, usage for PERS and connected solutions, top caregiver concerns, and consumer willingness to pay for solutions that support aging with independence.

Sources of digital data that could benefit the healthcare industry have exploded since 2010. These data can provide clinical decision support, help insurers assess risk profiles, identify care quality gaps, and more. Still, there are hurdles to overcome before these patient data use cases can be fully developed and implemented. Consumers are uncomfortable in sharing data with care providers and other ecosystem players, and care providers are concerned about junk patient data and liability associated with data sharing. In this session, experts discuss their approaches to capturing consumer health data, analyzing that data, and managing health data in a secure way.

Lack of quality sleep leads to a host of medical conditions, but Americans’ sleep quality and quantity continue to decline. Parks Associates research reveals that 45% of consumers get insufficient sleep; more than 25% severely lack sleep. In this session, Parks Associates analysts present results of a consumer survey assessing consumers’ sleep attitudes, routines, and environment. Findings also reveal consumers’ awareness and current use of sleep-related technologies and interest in a variety of sleep tech use cases and form factors.
