Consumers Slow to Embrace Cloud Services for Digital Media, Says Parks Associates

Industry Leaders and Analysts Discuss Cloud Media and The Personal Cloud at CONNECTIONS™ at TIA 2012 Conference in Dallas Next Month

International research firm Parks Associates reports 22% of U.S. broadband households currently would refuse to buy a "cloud copy" of digital media, while almost 30% would require a physical copy in addition to a cloud copy.

Parks Associates and industry leaders will explore business models, profit strategies, and consumer interest for cloud services, storage, and computing at CONNECTIONS™ at TIA 2012, June 5-7, in Dallas, Texas. Cloud sessions feature executives from Catch Media, CSG Media, F-Secure, IBM, MediaNaviCo, Omnifone, Primadesk, and SugarSync.

“Roughly one-quarter of U.S. broadband households are interested in the 'cloud copy' concept, but for now, consumers in general are unwilling to pay a premium for cloud offerings, indicating a market still in its early stages," said Brett Sappington, Director, Research, Parks Associates. “Many companies are experimenting with business models around the personal cloud to find the path to profitability. At CONNECTIONS™, we will examine the lessons learned today that will allow tomorrow’s personal cloud services to quickly become profitable and sustainable.”
