Eric Bruno - Verizon

Eric J. Bruno, Vice President, Product Management, Verizon Telecom

Eric J. Bruno is the vice president of Product Management for Verizon Telcom, the wired services unit of Verizon Communications Inc. He is responsible for new product development and product lifecycle management across both the Consumer and Small Business segments. Key areas of responsibility include FiOS TV, FiOS Internet, High Speed Internet, Value Added Services, Software as a Service and Connected Home services. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Bruno was responsible for consumer product management of wireless and wireline data products.

In addition, he has served as the vice president of Product Strategy, Planning and Partner Management for Verizon Communications. He was responsible for evaluating emerging technology trends and studying adjacent industries to drive the creation of product roadmaps addressing all of Verizon's customer segments and in support of all business groups. He also managed relationships with strategic partners.

In other assignments, Mr. Bruno served as vice president of Market Intelligence and Alliance Management for Verizon Business. In this role he was responsible for Market Sizing, Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, Technology Trend Assessment, Market Research and Alliance Management. He also served as vice president of the Product and Portfolio Management for Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group. In this role, he was responsible for product management, portfolio management, offer planning & development, lifecycle management, forecasting, and market program prioritization. Mr. Bruno's responsibilities covered the entire portfolio of products & services for Enterprise business. He also served as vice president of IP Offer Management for Verizon.

Mr. Bruno has more than twenty years of experience in the communications industry with significant assignments in business market strategy, competitive planning and response, market management, large business sales and long distance.

Mr. Bruno received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Philosophy from Duke University.


David Grubb III, Motorola Mobility

David Grubb III, Vice President, Architecture & Strategy, Converged Experiences, Motorola Mobility

David Grubb III is Vice President, Architecture & Strategy, Converged Experiences, Motorola Mobility. In this role, he is responsible for focusing on the development of the strategy and architecture for Motorola Mobility’s next-generation Internet Era of TV and converged experiences. He is also responsible for developing differentiated applications and device solutions for the delivery of multi-screen experiences.

Grubb previously served as the Chief Technology Officer for Motorola Home, a business within Motorola Mobility. Grubb was responsible for technology and innovation leadership, intellectual property creation and timely integration of new technologies to create new business opportunities.

Previously, Grubb was Vice President, Technology Business Development for Motorola’s Home business. He was responsible in that role for leading the development of business strategies related to next generation TV, media mobility and fixed-mobile convergence. Grubb was tasked with bringing together Motorola’s wired and wireless video and broadband technologies to create new, compelling seamless mobility experiences for consumers.

Grubb originally joined Motorola, then General Instrument, in 1982. Over the last 28 years, Grubb has held a series of roles including research and development for the transmission network systems business, and later assumed leadership responsibility as the director and then vice president of engineering. In 1997 he was named vice president, marketing for the TNS business. From 1999 to 2003, he held the position of vice president of marketing for the TNS business and then moved into the role of vice president, advanced network technology for the IP solutions group.

Grubb holds five patents and has published numerous papers on fiber optics and HFC network technology. He has also published and presented at numerous industry conferences.

He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Drexel University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.


Glenn Lurie, AT&T

Glenn Lurie, President of Emerging Devices, Resale and Partnerships, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets

Glenn Lurie is President of Emerging Devices, National Resale and Partnerships for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. Lurie leads AT&T’s strategic initiative to drive innovation in bringing wireless connectivity to a host of new devices and applications — including personal computing, eReaders, Telematics and portable navigation devices, eHeath devices, and machine-to-machine communications solutions. He is also responsible for AT&T’s new Digital Life division, which will drive innovation through the connected home initiative utilizing industry leading IP connectivity technology to deliver home security, mobility solutions and a host of other services.

Lurie also has responsibilities for AT&T’s ongoing operations and relationship with Apple Inc., having led negotiations to bring the iPhone and iPad to AT&T. In addition, Lurie has responsibility for AT&T’s National Resale business and operations.

Glenn’s previous role was President of National Distribution for AT&T’s wireless operations, where he was responsible for business operations for the National Retail Channel, National Dealer Channel, Direct Mail/Direct Response team, National Resale Operations, att.com - AT&T’s web business – as well as AT&T’s prepaid business and sales through all distribution channels.

Glenn joined the former AT&T Wireless in 1990, and held several sales, marketing and operation positions throughout his tenure. As President of AT&T’s West Region, he was responsible for the market operations in 10 western states, representing more than 40 percent of the company's overall business.

Prior to leading the company’s West Region operations, Lurie held senior executive positions including Regional Vice President for the California/Hawaii region and Vice President and General Manager for the Los Angeles/Southern California market after advancing from a similar position for Arizona.

Prior to entering the wireless industry, Lurie was a professional soccer player for teams representing Cleveland, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Portland.

Lurie was awarded the Atlanta Telecom Professional of the Year Award in 2009 from the Atlanta Telecoms Professionals Association and Wireless Weeks Telecom Leadership Award in 2010.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business/Marketing from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA.


John Penney - Starz

John B. Penney, Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Starz, LLC

John Penney is Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development for Starz, LLC. Penney is responsible for evaluating and building key business strategies, partnerships, and identifying and developing new business opportunities across the family of Starz companies. Penney joined Starz in March 2010.

Most recently, Penney was President and Head of Corporate Development of Foresee Entertainment, a media and entertainment company he co-founded with current Starz, LLC President and CEO, Chris Albrecht in 2008. At Foresee, Penney was responsible for operations and the planning and development of its strategy, expansion efforts and new business platforms.

More recently, Penney served as Head of Global Media Strategy for IMG, Inc., where he was responsible for developing and implementing a new global entertainment strategy, focusing on production and distribution of non-scripted, scripted, and digital programming. Penney was an early proponent of the digital transformation of the entertainment industry.

Prior to that, Penney was with HBO for five years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Digital Initiatives, where he oversaw the strategic planning, delivery and operational management of new advertising-supported broadband channels.

Prior to that, as Executive Vice President at ACTV, Inc., he oversaw the development and licensing of technologies and intellectual property for interactive television, personal computer, wireless data and mobile entertainment environments.

Before executive stints at Scient, Inc. and Viacom, Penney spent seven years on Wall Street, both as an equity research analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. covering the media and entertainment industries, and as a financial analyst in the Media & Telecommunications Corporate Finance group of The Chase Manhattan Bank.

Penney holds a B.A. in Social Psychology from Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy & Administration, concentrating in Science & Technology, from Columbia University.

He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.

Glenn Adler - AwoX

Glenn Adler, Director Bus. Devt & Sales, AwoX, Inc.

Glenn Adler is the Director of Business Development and Sales in North America for AwoX, an industry leader in connected home A/V products and technologies. AwoX’s offerings include DLNA/DTCP stack development kits, embedded clients for Internet services, control applications for mobile and home networked devices, and design and customization of audio and video embedded products. He is in charge of AwoX’s portfolio in the North American market for the consumer electronics, mobile phone and semiconductor segments, and for all new product development, business creation and commercial activities in the region.

Prior to joining AwoX in 2010, Glenn ran the Silicon Valley R&D group for TCL, a leading Chinese TV manufacturer, focusing on Connected & 3D TV solutions. His activity at TCL built on skills developed in his previous positions at Philips Electronics, handling new product definition, product road mapping, and business development in the LCD, PC Monitor and TV industries. Glenn also ran Philips CE’s US standardization group in North America and participated in several industry groups, including policy roles at CEA, and positions within the HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort working groups.

Glenn has worked more than twenty years in the PC and consumer electronics industries with roles in product and project management and engineering design of embedded systems, displays, input devices and ICs.

Glenn holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Brown University.


Ramzi Ammari

Ramzi Ammari, VP Product and Program Manager, UEIC

Ramzi Ammari is senior vice president, global product planning & strategy at Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI). He is responsible for all aspects of product development from directing global product strategy through product launch for Universal Electronics’ three business lines: Consumer Retail, Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM), and Subscription Broadcasting. He is responsible for the company’s industrial and user interface designs as well as driving new technology innovation for next generation products & services. Ramzi joined Universal Electronics in July 1997. Prior to UEI, Ramzi was Business Planning Manager at Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics of America, where he helped launch Mitsubishi’s first plasma display panel television in 1996. Mr. Ammari holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and business from the University of California, Irvine.


Peter Ansel - Clearleap

Peter Ansel, VP of Business Development, Clearleap

In the role of vice president of business development at Clearleap, Peter Ansel oversees strategic partnerships, alliances and technology integrations for Clearleap's web-based TV technology platform and ground-breaking Stream On Demand solution. Since joining Clearleap in 2009, Peter has forged a myriad of partnerships that enable TV operators to manage and deliver programming direct to internet-connected TV devices, set-top boxes and blu-ray systems in the home.

Peter joined Clearleap after working as VP of Advertising Strategy at Move Networks, where he created new revenue models for broadband TV clients such as ABC, Fox, Ogilvy, and Starcom. Prior to Peter’s time at Move, he was a Business Development Executive at AdMission Corp, MetaTV and Alta Vista, where he successfully spearheaded new business models, partnerships and revenue growth for technology related endeavors. Peter attended the University of California, Davis and the University of Miami School of Law.


 

Ashish Arora, Vice President and General Manager for the Logitech Digital Home Group, Logitech

Ashish Arora is the Vice President and General Manager for the Logitech Digital Home Group. Mr. Arora’s team is responsible for the development of key technologies, services and product marketing activities related to the commercialization and launch of all Harmony remote controls and Google TV products worldwide. To develop the best products, Mr. Arora and his team closely track trends in home entertainment and evolving usage behaviors. Prior to this role, Mr. Arora led worldwide product marketing and strategic business development for Logitech’s Control Devices business unit. In this role, Mr. Arora was responsible for defining and developing products based on detailed market and technology analysis; developing the products’ positioning, messaging and packaging; and executing on all global product launches. Mr. Arora led the rollout of Logitech’s breakthrough high-end mice, including the MX Revolution mouse and the MX1000 Cordless Laser mouse. Prior to joining Logitech in 2002, Mr. Arora spent ten years working in business development and marketing for technology companies that were developing platforms and solutions for the financial services industry. He started his technology career as a hardware engineer for global technology services giant Wipro Technologies, the largest IT company in India. Mr. Arora holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Technology in India. He received an MBA from the University of Kansas.


 

Seth Bailey, CEO, iTOK.NET

Seth Bailey is the CEO of iTOK, a company he co-founded in 2004. At iTOK, Mr. Bailey has helped grow the company's vision of being the leader in the remote tech support market. iTOK is one of the first companies to provide Managed Services to a residential and SOHO market .

This unique positioning has lead the company to attract multiple Fortune 500 companies interested in providing a premium technical support experience to their customers. Mr. Bailey attributes iTOK's year-over-year success and fast growth to exceptional business partners and ambitious employees. Prior to iTOK, Mr. Bailey successfully built and sold a multi-million dollar company that he started in 1999. At the time of his exit, his business had grown from a regional company to a national company with over 1000 employees, serviced thousands of clients per year, and doubled profitable revenue every year for five straight years. Seth is a proud father of three girls, an avid outdoorsman and loves entrepreneurship.


 

Sukamal Banerjee, VP, Engineering Services, HCL

Sukamal Banerjee is Vice President of Engineering Services business line at HCL Technologies. He manages HCL’s business in North America and Europe for Hi-Tech and Industrial Manufacturing market segment. Sukamal, in his career at HCL has carried several progressive responsibilities. Currently for the Hi-Tech market space and has been instrumental in creating some of HCL’s Top 5 accounts. He also was responsible for many of the first of its kind relationships with customers covering unique business models, entry into new geographic markets, entry into new vertical market segments and also launch of new service lines in North American market. Currently his global team manages a $ 300 M business on a rapid growth path focused on technology innovation, collaborating with customers and an extended ecosystem of partners covering new technology and business trends. He also has the experience of structuring and managing large scale services partnerships with several customers. Sukamal manages HCL’s relationship seamlessly across both the industry leaders in the Hi-Tech industry and start-ups developing the next generation of technologies.

Sukamal has over 16 years of industry experience spanning IT services, Engineering Services, Strategic & Corporate Planning. He began his career as a Software Engineer. Prior to his current role in HCL he has managed Hi-Tech Vertical working with CIO’s & CTO’s in this market space and creating and managing some of the most significant relationships for HCL. Earlier he created HCL’s presence in North West US as a Regional Director working with some of the largest corporations in the region and establishing HCL’s strong presence in this market space across Hi-Tech, Aerospace and Telecom Services companies. He started his career with HCL in India as employee number 2 for HCL Perot Systems, HCL’s joint venture with Perot Systems. In this role of being in the start-up operations of this Joint Venture covering several aspects of creating and running a business including creating organizational processes, recruitment, market positioning and then being responsible for launching the services for the India market. During this stint he was responsible for creating India’s first transaction-fee based outsourcing engagement with a Govt. Agency in New Delhi, India.

Before HCL, Sukamal worked as a Software Engineer developing algorithms and software products across several aspects of object modelling and manufacturing process optimizations. Sukamal is a Mechanical Engineer from V.J.T.I, Mumbai and an MBA Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, Mumbai. Sukamal is a global travel who calls Seattle, WA home.


 

Timo Bauer, SVP & GM Americas, NewBay Software

Timo Bauer is Senior Vice President & General Manager Americas. Timo joined NewBay as Director of Business Development in 2005 with responsibility for establishing and growing NewBay\'s American operation. Timo is instrumental in driving the strategic direction of NewBay with specific responsibility for the Americas region and developing NewBay\'s OEM business globally. Prior to NewBay, Timo worked at Diebold/Detecon Consulting, a Business & IT Consultancy firm headquartered in Germany. He joined Detecon\'s US office in 2003 and played a key role in expanding their US telecom practice. Before joining NewBay he managed multiple projects at wireless carriers and was Key Account Manager for Detecon\'s biggest US account. Timo holds a degree in Business Administration from ISM (International School of Management) in Germany, which also included studies at the European Business School in the UK and UCCS (University of Colorado) in the USA.


Marc Beckwitt - Technicolor

Marc Beckwitt, Vice President, MediaNavi Strategic Partnerships, Technology Business Group, Technicolor

Marc Beckwitt has over two decades of experience within the Consumer Electronics industry. Beckwitt currently serves as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for MediaNavi at Technicolor. In addition, Beckwitt represents Technicolor on the Consumer Electronics Association Video Board.

Recently launched at the consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, a cloud based content platform aggregating NSP, OTT & In home personal content, MediaNavi makes navigating the universe of content simple, seamless & social.

Previously, Beckwitt served as Vice President of Video CPE Business Development at the ARRIS group and was responsible for the Moxi brand of products for both Retail and Operator segments. In addition, Beckwitt represented ARRIS on the Consumer Electronics Video Board. Beckwitt held a similar role Paul Allen’s Digeo, Inc. before its acquisition by ARRIS.

Prior to Digeo, Beckwitt spent nearly 20 years with Sony Electronics in a wide variety of roles including Strategic Alliances Director managing key relationships fortune 100 companies such as Walt Disney, GTE, Paramount Pictures, Universal, etc. Beckwitt was also one of the founding team that led conceptualization, development, and the start-up launch of www.sonystyle.com as Sony’s primary e-Commerce business unit exceeding $250 million in first year sales. While at Sony, Beckwitt served on CEA working group negotiating Cable / CE one-way and two-way agreements.

Beckwitt holds 5 U.S. patents in the network and interactive TV fields with more than 10 additional patents pending.

Beckwitt holds Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics from Claremont McKenna College.


David Bercovich

David Bercovich, Vice President, Business Development, AlertMe

David serves as the Vice President of Business Development for AlertMe and is leading AlertMe's entry into the North American market. Prior to AlertMe David was at Google for seven years, where he spent the last three years with Google.org's climate and energy team as Program Manager on projects including plug-in electric vehicles, energy efficiency, renewable energy and Google PowerMeter. Prior to joining Google.org, David helped found Google's Enterprise business and served as the Product Marketing lead for the business unit.

In his earlier career, David worked for Applied Semantics where he helped launch AdSense, he provided trade and export promotion for the California government in London and also worked in technology investment banking with Credit Suisse First Boston.

David has an MSc in Global Market Economics from the London School of Economics and a BA Economics with Distinction from Yale University.


Daniel Blackburn

Daniel Blackburn, Vice President, Mobile, LEVEL Studios, a Rosetta Company

Daniel Blackburn is Vice President of Mobile at LEVEL, a Rosetta company, and oversees the LEVEL mobile strategy practice. His leadership helps clients integrate campaigns and strategies across connected devices that deepen consumer awareness and brand interaction. Throughout his career, Daniel has collaborated with consumer brands such as Kraft, RIM, Toyota, MSN Mobile and Intel. Daniel combines a global perspective, strategic leadership, and practical execution in his client relationships. Prior to LEVEL, Daniel worked at the Hyperfactory, where he managed account development and strategy across their portfolio of North American clients. Prior to the Hyperfactory, Daniel spent two years as an independent consultant, evangelizing mobile among consumer brands and leading digital agencies. Daniel began working in the mobile marketing industry during its infancy with mobile trailblazer Enpocket before its acquisition by Nokia, overseeing west coast business development. Daniel is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer at universities across southern California on the subjects of mobile marketing and new media.


Stephen Blum - Tellus Venture Associates

Stephen Blum, President, Tellus Venture Associates

Stephen Blum is president of Tellus Venture Associates®, a management and business development consultancy for the digital media and telecommunications industries. He is a 30-year industry veteran and recognized as an expert in developing new digital consumer products, wireless and fiber optic broadband systems, and satellite broadcasting platforms and services. His accomplishments include playing key roles in the development and launch of DBS and satellite radio systems, including DirecTv, and the deployment of community broadband networks. He is the author of seven books on the Internet and satellite broadcasting and is a frequent contributor to professional journals and industry events.

Located on California's Monterey Peninsula, Tellus Venture Associates serves start-up companies, established corporations, government agencies and private communities in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Blum is Vice President ex officio of the Society of Satellite Professionals International, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific, a director of the Central Coast Broadband Consortium and a past Vice President of the World Affairs Council of the Monterey Bay Area. He holds an A.B. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. in East Asia Studies from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, and has received several major professional honors, including the PRSA Silver Anvil and the Ellen B. Scripps Fellowship. He is a nationally ranked triathlete and a 20-time Ironman finisher.


 

Josh Brister, Market Segment Manager- Residential, Schneider Electric

Josh Brister is responsible for Residential marketing at Schneider Electric, a global specialist in Energy Management. He has a background in utility EE/DR programs, and has been involved with the development of Schneider Electric's Wiser energy management system. He has an MBA from Vanderbilt University and is a graduate of Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo.


Paul Brody, Global Industry Leader, Electronics, IBM Corp.

Paul leads IBM’s Global Electronics Industry team, a global team of more than 4,000 professionals in 20 countries serving the world’s top electronics companies. He has more than 15 years of business strategy consulting experience in the US, Europe, Africa, and Asia, working primarily in electronics and supply chain management. Paul’s work ranges from detailed operations transformation in factory planning up to CEO-Level enterprise transformation plans.

Paul has authored numerous white papers including 12 Steps To A Greener Supply Chain, Rebooting The Electronics Industry, and Altogether Now: A Guide To Supply Chain Collaboration. Co-authored the book Irresistible Electronics with Hagen Wenzek and George Bailey.


 

Gary Brotman, Head of Marketing for Qualcomm Global Market Development, Qualcomm Labs

Gary Brotman is currently head of marketing for Qualcomm Services Labs venture, Skifta. He is responsible for designing product and marketing strategies for the company’s mobile and connected home media services. Brotman is a digital media veteran with more than 15 years of experience designing and marketing media software and services that push the boundaries of technology to enrich culture. The majority of his career has been dedicated to helping consumers, artists and companies discover, experience, promote and distribute media online. Prior to joining Qualcomm Services Labs, Brotman was the head of Artist Services and Marketing for Santa Monica-based Topspin Media, where he lead a team responsible for marketing the Topspin software platform and providing strategic guidance to artists, managers, labels and Topspin marketing ecosystem partners on developing and managing direct-to-fan businesses. While at Topspin, he designed direct-to-consumer record release campaigns and businesses for a host of major-label and indie artists including Eminem, David Byrne, Peter Gabriel, Adam Freeland, Van Hunt, and many others. Prior to joining Topspin, Brotman was the head of product marketing at Yahoo! Music, where he was responsible for developing marketing strategies in support of the division’s ad-supported and paid music services. Before becoming part of the Yahoo! Music team, Brotman served as Director of Ecommerce and Corporate Communications Director for Musicmatch, makers of Musicmatch Jukebox. The lion’s share of his time at Musicmatch was dedicated to developing marketing and communications strategies and driving customer acquisition and retention efforts in support of the company’s premium software, music downloads and premium music subscription products. Prior to joining Musicmatch, Brotman was an account supervisor in the Los Angeles office of international PR firm, Golin/Harris. While with the firm, Brotman built a practice focused solely on the digital music space, providing communications counsel and developing product launch strategies for a client roster that included Creative Labs, Musicmatch, and Amazon.com’s music store, among others. This digital music practice was credited as the first of its kind within a major PR firm. Brotman also serves on the advisory boards of online indie artist social marketplace, Webceleb and mobile and Internet music discovery platform, Chompin.


Richard Bullwinkle

Richard Bullwinkle, Chief Evangelist, Rovi Corporation

Richard Bullwinkle joined Rovi Corporation in January 2007 after the company acquired Mediabolic, where he had served as vice president of products and chief evangelist. Since that time, Richard has served as chief evangelist responsible for corporate strategy. In his role, Richard helps define the direction of Rovi’s products and technology solutions. He represents the company at numerous industry events to gather market perspectives and understand trends that have an impact on the company’s customers and the end consumer in order to provide recommendations to the senior team. He also works to establish standards and lead the discussions to promote a better consumer experience throughout the CE industry.

Richard has worked on the cutting edge of the digital entertainment movement throughout his career with the consumer experience at the center of his focus. As vice president of products and chief evangelist at Mediabolic, Richard helped pioneer the connected home strategy of connecting entertainment media devices. As a senior member of Rio Audio's product marketing team, Richard played an instrumental part in the creation of some of the most popular MP3 players in the US. At TiVo, Richard was the company’s chief evangelist and a senior member of TiVo's product marketing team. He helped create and develop the TiVo products and was behind the campaign to make the TiVo product a household name.

Richard graduated from Rollins College in Florida with degrees in English and Music.


 

Scott Burnett, Director, Global Consumer Electronics Industry, IBM

Scott is responsible for leading IBM Strategy & Business development focused on the Consumer Electronics Industry, coordinating digital convergence efforts across IBM brands and Industries leveraging cloud computing for product & service innovation. Scott has served in numerous capacities at IBM ranging from executive roles in the Media & Entertainment industry to business development with IBM research. As Global Marketing Director for IBM's Digital Media Group, Scott lead worldwide marketing strategy and market development for IBM Digital Media solutions. Prior to joining IBM, Scott Burnett served as Vice President, Marketing for Liquid Audio, guiding Liquid Audio's global marketing strategy and positioning its IPO and the Liquid Audio brand as a major player in the initial market for digital music delivery via the Internet. Scott Burnett’s film and entertainment studio experience includes Vice President of Corporate Brands at Warner Bros. Studios, organizing global branding efforts across company divisions, and Vice President of Warner Bros. International Production Group as well as Director Administration, Disney Character Voices at The Walt Disney Company, managing the international release of animated productions including brand management. Among Scott Burnett's 25+ years of marketing, brand management, business development, sales and production management experience in the media industry, he’s also consulted for a number of media companies. Scott received an MBA from the University San Francisco in 1985 and Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1981. As an Associate Professor, he taught marketing at the University of San Francisco.

Before joining Cisco Systems, Vikas worked at Verizon, and earned his M.S. in Electrical Engineering focusing on Optical and Data Communications from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.


Nick Chakalos - Catch Media

Nick Chakalos is President of Catch Media. In this role, he leads business development, sales and all North American operations. Mr. Chakalos brings more than twenty years of business leadership, product management, and business development experience in technology, Internet, and consumer electronics.

Prior to assuming his current position, Chakalos heldseveral executive positions within Motorola where he focused on internet video, digital media, and content management solutions. He led Strategy & Business Development, On Demand Video, and the advanced Set Top Software Solutions businesses for Motorola’s multi-billion dollar Broadband Home Solutions division.

He joined Motorola through the acquisition of Ucentric Systems where he was vice president of business development. Before joining Ucentric, Chakalos managed the worldwide strategic marketing and business development of silicon and embedded software for set-top boxes at IBM. Previously, Chakalos directed product management activities for a line of interactive services and devices at Philips Electronics and served as product manager of embedded Internet solutions at Spyglass. He began his career at Texas Instruments, where he held business, product management, strategy, and design engineering roles.

Chakalos earned undergraduate degrees in Engineering from Dartmouth College and a Master's of Business Administration degree from Babson College.


Jay Chambers - BigBand Networks

Michael Clegg - NETGEAR

Michael Clegg is the Sr Vice President and General Manager of NETGEAR’s Service Provider Business Unit. He is responsible for products developer for and sold globally into Service Providers. He is also responsible for cross-over products initially developed for the retail market, which are being increasingly offered directly by service providers. These products include home routers, wireless adaptors, storage, in-home distribution product and IP set top boxes and media adaptors.

Michael brings to Netgear over a decade of experience in developing carrier class, wireline and wireless, telecom and datacom and digital video products. Michael has a passion for and demonstrable ability to innovate new products, taking them from concept through to commercially successful volume production. He has been instrumental in several 1st to market product developments.

Prior to NETGEAR, Michael was GM at Virtual Access and before that founded and led the Westell Europe subsidiary, developing successful DSLAM products leading to an acquisition by Fujitsu Telecommunications. At Westell Technologies and Virtual Access, Michael was instrumental in and led the development of customer and business broadband devices with integrated remote management. He has also developed several wireless and streaming video products and consulted to European and US Telecom and Semiconductor companies on R&D strategy and product innovation. Michael has a BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Digital System Design. He is also a contributing author to “Implementation and Applications of DSL technology” authoring chapter 10 – “DSLAM Architecture and Functionality”.


Aine Denari, Director of Strategy, Ingersoll Rand

Áine is a director of strategy with Ingersoll Rand’s “Connected Home Solutions” business. In this role, Áine has responsibility for directing the strategy of IR’s home automation business, managing strategic alliances and partnerships, and understanding competitive and market dynamics.

Prior to joining Ingersoll Rand, Áine worked in strategy consulting in the US and Europe, with consulting firms McKinsey & Company and Bain & Company. In these roles she managed teams to diagnose strategic and operational problems for leading international companies, as well as developing and implementing practical, creative solutions. Prior to consulting, Aine worked as a mechanical engineer with Ford Motor Company.

Áine holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University); and advanced engineering degrees from Purdue University and University of Detroit Mercy. Áine completed her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at University College Dublin in Ireland.


Jim Denney, VP & GM Product Marketing, TiVo Inc.

As Vice President of product marketing at TiVo, Jim Denney is responsible for defining TiVo's hardware platform and service direction, strategy, and requirements. During his tenure at TiVo, he has worked closely with internal resources as well as partner companies like Toshiba and Pioneer on the cooperative development of products. Mr. Denney represents TiVo in major product announcements and has represented TiVo in testimony before Congress on the issue of fair use of content. Prior to joining TiVo, Mr. Denney held leadership positions in product marketing at iBEAM Broadcasting/WilTel Communications and SGI, focusing on the creation of distribution networks for streaming media and media production tools for both enterprise and entertainment applications. He was involved in 3D animation at FTI Corporation and started his career as a systems consultant at Andersen Consulting. Mr. Denney has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He also received an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for his contributions to the development of the TiVo Service.


Christopher Dow - Rovi

Christopher Dow, VP, Architecture, Rovi Corporation

Christopher Dow is vice president, Architecture at Rovi where he is responsible for directing the architecture of Rovi digital entertainment products and product ecosystem, including the Rovi guide, metadata, search and recommendations solutions. Chris joined Rovi in 2007, when the company acquired Mediabolic, and has over 22 years in the computer graphics and multimedia industry. Chris has directed the high-level architecture for consumer electronics (CE) devices such as digital video recorders, web pads and hand-held gaming devices. He has also led the development of 3D graphics APIs, the media resource solution of a set-top box in an interactive TV environment, and has experience with imaging and X server development.

Prior to his current role, Chris held a variety of positions at Rovi including vice president, Architecture, Product Development and previous to this, director, Software Architecture for Consumer Electronics Product Development. In this latter position, he was responsible for the company’s Connected Platform solution for DLNA/UPnP and connected content software, and the integration of these technologies with Rovi media recommendation, recognition and Web-based guidance capabilities.

Previous to Rovi, Chris was director of software development at Mediabolic. Earlier in his career, Chris was a system architect for PalmOne, and has also held principal engineer positions at frontpath, Red Jade, Inc. and 3dfx, Inc. respectively. He has five years of experience in the biotechnology software field, including two years as a student, where he developed applications for use by the Human Genome Initiative.

Chris has several patents pending as part of a team of inventors for several systems and methods in the digital entertainment field including the areas of improved blackfield detection, indexing commercials in a video presentation, navigation of indexed video content and aggregating commercial navigation information.


 

Jaime Fink, Senior Vice President of Technology, Pace

Jaime Fink is Senior Vice President of Technology for Pace Enterprise, the Pace division focused on developing new and emerging business opportunities, including software, services, network technologies and advanced residential gateways for the global market.

Jaime is responsible for exploring ways to build on Pace’s existing capabilities and develop new technology and services to help operators deliver converged digital services – from PayTV and broadband Internet to home health and security – into the home.

As part of this role, Jaime looks after product strategy and new technology initiatives in the areas of broadband services, home and operator networks, and digital media. This includes setting Pace Enterprise’s vision around future technologies, and aligning this with corporate goals and demand from service providers and consumers.

Jaime was appointed to his Pace Enterprise role following Pace’s acquisition of 2Wire in October 2010. Prior to the acquisition, Jaime was Chief Technology Officer at 2Wire, having joined the company 2002. In this role, Jaime oversaw the growth of the gateway business from the ground up to now over 35 million devices delivered to consumers, and 2Wire becoming the industry leader in multi-service gateways. He was also instrumental in defining the highly successful TR-069 device management standard with the Broadband Forum, which now boasts over 100 million supported devices globally.

Prior to joining 2Wire, Jaime was the director of Product Management at Zhone Technologies. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1995 with a BS, Engineering.


James Field - NDS

James Field, Director of Technology, New Initiatives, NDS

James Field is Director of Technology, New Initiatives at NDS where he is responsible for business development and communication for the global New Initiatives Research & Development team. In this role, James also leads the company’s partner program with Silicon Valley-based technology companies in pursuit of new technology developments, and is instrumental in delivering convergent solutions for NDS customers worldwide.

James has been with NDS for over thirteen years, and brings a particular focus to rich media services for embedded devices, their future and the server side technologies that drive them. Most recently, he served as Director of Solutions for NDS’ Asia Pacific region, and as a secondment Chief Operating Officer in the Beijing office, where he managed the specification and delivery of interactive and Digital TV solutions for the surrounding areas.

Prior to joining NDS, James worked at STAR TV as a Technical Engineering Manager. In this role, he worked closely with local satellite and cable redistributors, and coordinated the operation set-up and support of direct-to-home (DTH) satellite networks in Indonesia and India, including Indovision Digital Installation Company, Asia's first digital DTH broadcaster. James spent his early career working as an engineer at Pan Asian Systems, Atlas Wireline Service and Marconi Defense Systems.

James earned his bachelor's and master’s degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, both from the University of Bath. He has also attended Cranfield University’s School of Management and served in the Corps of Royal Engineers in the British Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.


John Fisher, CTO & CSA, Troppus Software; Vice President, Product & Technology, EchoStar Technologies

Mr. Fisher was the co-founder, CTO and Chief Software Architect (CSA) of Peak8 Solutions from late 2005 until 2009 where he led all product development efforts related to service delivery platforms for customer service and technical support solutions. He has over 21 years of product development and customer care management experience, including the creation of award winning products (inclusive of PC Magazine Editor’s Choice and Best Tech Support solutions two years in a row) in the service and support industry. John also served as COO and EVP of New Product Development at both Distinctive Technologies and RMI.net, the latter being a publicly traded entity where he was responsible for 20 locations (Call Centers, HSI/DSL, Telcom, Hosting and Care Operations) and two subsidiary software development companies.

During his career, John has worked extensively with such companies as Borland, Net Objects, Symantec, Netscape and Microsoft in the development and QA testing of some of their most popular commercial products. He was selected in 2007/2008 by the TM Forum as the lead architect for the creation of a catalyst program on Universal Device Management. He is the inventor of numerous technologies and has been granted two patents with five additional patents pending. Prior to entering the technology business, John served for 8 years in the US Special Forces. He holds a BA in Theology, an MS in Strategic Intelligence & Systems, and an MBA in Marketing.


Martin Flusberg, CEO, Powerhouse Dynamics

Martin has been a technology entrepreneur and executive for over 30 years, with the past 20 focused on energy and clean tech. He currently is CEO of Powerhouse Dynamics, a pioneering firm in the Energy Management space. Prior to that, he was co-founder and President of Nexus Energy Software, a provider of unique enterprise software solutions for the utility industry addressing smart grid, energy efficiency, and related issues. Nexus was successfully sold to in 2005 and integrated with its sister companies into Aclara Technologies.

Martin previously served as Director of Commercial Systems for TASC, with responsibility for the firm's Lodestar® product line for the utility industry (later spun out as LODESTAR Corporation and sold to Oracle in 2007). He was also founder and CEO of REALink Systems, a software company serving the real estate industry, and CEO of Multisystems, a software and management consulting firm focusing on transportation.

Martin has an MSCE degree from MIT and a BEE degree from CUNY.


David Foote

David L. Foote, Chief Technology Officer, Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc.

Mr. Foote is the Chief Technology Officer for Hitachi Communication Technologies America. He is currently responsible for strategic product planning, technology strategy, and technical marketing of fiber access, optical transport/switching, home networking, and cellular (RF, WiMAX, LTE) systems. He has been instrumental in establishing Hitachi’s network systems business with major North American service providers like AT&T, Global Crossing, Sprint, Time Warner, and T-Mobile. Wynn Grubbs, VP, Business Development, PlumChoice

Wynn is responsible for the new business development and marketing functions at PlumChoice. He joined PlumChoice in July 2009. He brings more than 20 years of executive business development and marketing experience in both private and public companies to his position.

Before PlumChoice he led the sales, marketing and account management teams at a number of companies including early-stage and venture capital funded firms CommercialWare, Independent Mobile (IMO) and Valora Technologies. He spent nine years at Lightbridge, an outsourced services company servicing the converged telecommunications market, where he helped build the company from a $16M private company to a publicly traded company with revenues in excess of $100M. He has an extensive background in the outsourced services, SaaS and software sectors including specific experience in telecommunications, retail and legal industries. Wynn began his career as an entrepreneur; he founded and operated two different retail businesses. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.


Mike Harris - Zonoff

As a successful serial entrepreneur, Mike Harris has founded and/or led numerous venture-backed technology companies to successful exits, including a NASDAQ IPO. Prior to co-founding Zonoff in 2011, Harris co-founded AnySource Media in 2006 and led the company as its’ CEO from start-up to successful exit in 2009; all during the worst recession in U.S. history. Under Harris’ guidance, AnySource designed and built a breakthrough Internet television streaming platform and embedded software that was successfully integrated into consumer HDTV and Blu-Ray players worldwide. AnySource was acquired by DivX (NASDAQ: DIVX) in the summer of 2009, where the technology became (and remains) the foundation of DivX’s “Internet TV” product solution. Subsequently, DivX was acquired by Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ: SNIC), which was subsequently acquired by Rovi (NASDAQ: ROVI.) Early in Harris’ career, he was the founder and CTO of Ravisent Technologies Inc., a technology pioneer in the DVD industry, winning numerous business and technical accolades including Frost and Sullivan’s award for excellence in strategy, the Technology Pioneer award from the World Economic Forum and three time the Deloitte and Touche Fast 500 award, including one year when the company was number 1 in its region and 9th nationally. Harris oversaw the development and adoption of Ravisent’s technology by leading PC and consumer electronics manufacturers, raising nearly $100M in venture and public financing, and ultimately achieving a $1B valuation on the NASDAQ market. Ravisent was ultimately acquired by STMicroelectronics, and Harris became its Group Vice President, Global Software Strategy. After STMicroelectronics, Harris served as President of Digital 5, a venture backed software provider enabling streaming media content within the connected home, and later became President of OpenPeak, a provider of software for home media control. Harris is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering.


Geoff Hollingworth - Ericsson

Geoff Hollingworth, Head of IP Services Strategy, Region North America, Ericsson

Geoff Hollingworth, Head of IP Services Strategy for Region North America, is responsible for driving Ericsson’s next generation end user IP services in the United States and Canada. Ericsson is helping architect a networked society where anything benefiting from a connection will have one.

Previously, Hollingworth was responsible for overseeing the Ericsson brand in North America. Before that led Ericsson’s next generation multimedia initiative to drive the three screen experience for the Volvo Ocean Race. Hollingworth has been based in London, Stockholm and Dallas.

Martin Kienzle - IBM

Dr. Martin Kienzle, Electronics Industry Leader, IBM Research

Dr. Kienzle is the Chief Media Technologist for the IBM Digital Convergence EBO. In this role, he is defining the technology strategy for IBM’s initiatives to help IBM’s customers in the electronics and media industries to exploit the opportunities arising from digital convergence. A particular focus is the infrastructure required to link digital content, applications, and services over broadband connections directly to consumer devices. Another focus area is the client architecture, both hardware and software, required for secure, high-function entertainment devices, from TVs and media players to game consoles.

Prior to this current position, Dr. Kienzle was Senior Manager, Intelligent Server Infrastructures, at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY. His responsibilities included the development of IBM Research’s media technology strategy, the coordination of media technology research across the laboratories of the Research Division, as well as managing several media technology research groups.

Dr. Kienzle frequently consults customers in assessing their requirements in media-related projects. He guides them in their development of system architectures, and their selection of component technologies for building large scale media systems that are integrated with the customers' business processes. Dr. Kienzle has extensive experience in developing and deploying media delivery technologies. Starting in the early nineties, he developed quality-of-service technologies and media streaming technologies. He has participated in, and guided numerous technology trials and deployments, including residential Video-on-Demand trials, corporate communications and e-learning systems, and integrated streaming content distribution systems.

Dr. Kienzle has received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the Technical University of Karlsruhe. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He has participated in numerous academic conferences on media technology as presenter, program committee member, and chair. He has authored more than thirty scientific papers and holds fourteen international patents.

Russell MacAdam

Russ MacAdam is a Director of Product Development at Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. He was part of the team that developed the first dimming ballast for compact fluorescent lamps and drove the development of many of Lutron’s energy-saving ballasts, controls and systems, including Lutron’s new LED driver family. Russ speaks several times a year on LEDs and the Lutron LED driver family at industry events and tradeshows. Russ is a graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering.

Russ has been a respected presenter within the electronics industry for most of his 19 years at Lutron. At Good Derrick partnered with global telecommunication companies such as Vodafone, France Telecom, LG Electronics and ATT Wireless. Derrick joined Good Technology with the acquisition of Intercasting Corporation in May 2009, where he was founder, President and COO.

At Intercasting, Derrick was responsible for building the team, negotiating deals with operator partners (Verizon, ATT & Sprint), social networking partners (MySpace, Facebook & Twitter) and running the day-to-day operations.

Prior to founding Intercasting, Derrick was President of Vivendi Universal’s Digital Music Division and had direct responsibility for MP3.com, Rollingstone.com, Getmusic and eMusic. Derrick came to Vivendi Universal with the acquisition of MP3.com for $372 million where he was COO and part of the management team responsible for the acquisition.

Rick Schwartz serves as product manager for PacketVideo's media management software (Twonky) for PCs and mobile devices. Prior to joining PV in 2008, Schwartz logged a rich history in digital media innovation. Six years before Apple sold its first song online, Schwartz was product manager at Liquid Audio. During this time, oversaw a team that created the first secure online music distribution system.

Following his tenure at Liquid Audio, Schwartz joined Gateway where he was in charge of product marketing for the company’s Desktop PC division. Schwartz played an integral role in launching hundreds of unique products and services to market, including Media Center PCs, the Gateway/Napster Music Service, Gateway MP3 Jukebox and Gateway Rhapsody Music Service. Schwartz also launched the Music Vault – an industry-first program that included preloading thousands of songs onto millions of PCs worldwide. Schwartz works from PV's headquarters in San Diego.

Steve Shapiro - ADT

Steve Shapiro is the Group Director of Product Management for ADT Security Services, the industry leader in electronic security solutions. In this role, Steve drives product strategy and direction for an extensive portfolio of ADT products, including the company’s revolutionary smart home automation system, ADT Pulse Interactive Solutions™, as well as all intrusion systems, fire systems, home health care systems and communications systems. Jeff Siegel

Jeff Siegel joined Rovi Corporation in October of 2010 as senior vice president, Worldwide Advertising, bringing almost 20 years of experience at all levels of advertising sales and strong relationships with agencies, publishers, networks, leagues, vendors and distributors. His experience includes managing global sales teams, and developing and marketing world-class brands and assets on diverse platforms including cable networks, internet, mobile, VOD and iTV. Jeff also has expertise in business development, operations and distribution.

Prior to Rovi, Jeff was at Ensequence – The Interactive Video Company, where he built out the programmer, distributor and advertising sales efforts and executed multiple business development opportunities to grow revenue and market share.

Previous to this, Jeff was senior vice president, Advanced Media Sales and Marketing at ESPN where he led the sales, marketing and development of advanced media platforms including internet, interactive television, addressable advertising, video on demand and mobile. Jeff spent a total of 13 years at ESPN, leading teams in both the Affiliate Sales and Advertising Sales organizations, where he was responsible for driving new business and advanced media sales and marketing efforts. In these roles, Jeff created industry-leading advanced media sponsorship programs, improved operating efficiencies, managed senior-level relationships and oversaw the creation and implementation of trade advertising.

Prior to his roles at ESPN, Jeff served four years as director of sales marketing at CBS affiliates in Cleveland and Orlando.

Prior to coming to the United States in 2010, Philippe held several positions in France Telecom Group in Europe. Robert Stepanian, Ph.D., CEO, NexStep, Inc.

Dr. Robert Stepanian is the CEO and founder of NexStep, Inc. NexStep designs and licenses lightweight platform solutions offering significant improvements in functionality, performance and cost of converged cloud-based control, display, and communications devices.

Robert has extensive background in computer architecture with broad expertise in hardware, software, and consumer electronics design. Ken Wacks

Eric Saltzman joined EcoFactor as COO in July 2009, bringing over 20 years of experience working with both private and public technology companies. Brett Sappington is currently Senior Analyst with Parks Associates.

Brett has spent over fifteen years in the industry as an executive manager and entrepreneur, building new businesses and new divisions for technology and business services firms. Previously, he founded and served as vice president of sales and marketing for Teligy, a software company specializing in embedded software for wired and wireless communications systems. Brett established new divisions for audio/multimedia software and networking for Intelligraphics. He has also been involved in the development and marketing of early-market products for 802.11 wireless networking, PC-based VoIP, and other technologies.

With a comprehensive understanding of all areas of marketing for technical product and service companies, including product development, strategic planning, and marketing communications, Brett knows the critical role that market research serves in the success of market-driven companies. He is able to work with Parks Associates’ clients to arm them with the market information they need to succeed in their business.

Brett holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in high-tech marketing and a BA in physics from Baylor University.

Harry Wang studies the consumer electronics and entertainment service industries with a focus on portable CE hardware, software, and associated applications and services. He is also the lead analyst for Parks Associates’ digital health research program. Harry has presented his research in numerous industry events including CES, Digital Hollywood, Photo Marketing Association Annual Show, American Telemedicine Association Annual Show, World Health Congress, and Parks Associates’ CONNECTIONS™ conferences.

Harry earned his MS degree in marketing research from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also holds an MBA degree in finance from Texas Christian University and a BA degree in international business from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, P.R. China.

Heather Way

Heather Way studies digital media advertising services and platforms as well as consumer research focusing on digital entertainment, digital media habits, and consumer purchase processes.

Prior to joining Parks Associates, Heather worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth media market for thirteen years, holding positions as Director of Advertising, media planner and buyer, national sales representative, and training coordinator. Most recently, Heather taught as an adjunct professor in the Department of Radio, Television, and Film at the University of North Texas.

Heather earned an MS degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, and holds a BS in Mass Communications from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma.
