Parks Associates and Best Buy address the $500 million market for IP-connected home services at CONNECTIONS™ at TIA 2012

Executive Conference addresses opportunities for service providers, security, and retailers

Parks Associates announced today the Best Buy keynote and list of speakers for June 7, the final day of the 16th annual CONNECTIONS™, which focuses on connected home systems and solutions, including energy, security, and home monitoring services. International research firm Parks Associates estimates 2012 U.S. revenues for IP-connected home service bundles, including control, automation, and security monitoring services, will be approximately $500 million.

CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase, hosted by Parks Associates and co-located with TIA 2012: Inside the Network, takes place June 5-7 in Dallas, Texas. June 7 features the session "Partnerships and Competition among Broadband and Security Service Providers, Utilities, and Retailers," moderated by Tom Kerber, Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates, and featuring executives from Ingersoll Rand, Honeywell International, Inc., Motorola Mobility, Tendril, and iControl Networks.

Kristen Bowring, Senior Director, Platform Lead Home and Energy Management, Best Buy, will deliver the closing keynote "Security, Controls, Energy Management, Connected Appliances – Accelerating the Adoption of the Connected Home" at 10:45 a.m. Mr. Bowring will discuss factors accelerating development of the connected home and the need for consumer-centric solutions that are easy to use and create an emotional connection with customers.

“Offering service bundles expands the value proposition, and ARPU, of energy and security services, but different households value different services, opening opportunities for a variety of companies, from retailers to service providers to security companies,” said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates. “At CONNECTIONS™, we have all stakeholders in a discussion of the different business opportunities, channel strengths, and partnership opportunities in deploying connected home services."

At CONNECTIONS™, Parks Associates’ leading analysts moderate all sessions. The analysts, joined by 100+ speakers, will present new consumer research and industry trends about emerging business models and opportunities in digital content, mobile applications and services, connected consumer electronics, broadband and value-added services, and home systems.
