That trend, to start making customers pay to access data, dovetails with research found by Parks Associates earlier this year, which noted that new smart home security customers spend about $55, on average, each month for these services. A ‘move-in-ready' house now means smart home devices are inside
For a home or apartments to be move-in-ready today, smart devices of all kinds need to be part of the space for 25 percent of U.S. broadband customers, according to new research from Parks Associates. That interest may point to why builders are looking to add smart products and connectivity to new construction projects from homes to apartment buildings.

Virtual reality headsets only owned by 8% of U.S. broadband users
Only about one-quarter are even familiar with what a VR headset is, according to a new report from Parks Associates called "Virtual Reality: The Evolving Ecosystem." A key problem may be with the quality of games, shows and experiences consumers watch.

Smart home devices are 'valuable' to 75% of those who use them
As it turns out, smart home owners are really satisfied customers. Give them a chance to buy a connected device, like a smart thermostat, and nearly 75 percent of them are really happy with what they buy. That's according to a new survey from Parks Associates which looked at U.S. broadband owners and found that once someone put a connected product in their home — the majority were pleased.

DIY smart home security devices twice as attractive than professional services
People are twice more likely to buy individual smart locks, doorbells and security cameras than sign up for a professional home monitoring service. That's the findings of a new report from security research firm Parks Associates, "360 Deep Dive: Pricing Strategies for Residential Security,"which looked at broadband households in the U.S. and their interest in securing their space.

One in three smart home owners control them through a network, like Alexa
More people are buying smart home devices, and connecting them through platforms or systems like smart speakers and hubs. So says a new report from Parks Associates which found that 35 percent of smart home owners are using a hub or app to run their smart devices.
