Middleware Solutions Needed for Multimedia Home Networks, Says Parks Associates

According to Unifying Home Media Platforms & Content, a forthcoming Parks Associates report dedicated to the middleware/software market in consumer entertainment, 39 percent of U.S. Internet households see high value in the ability to search for and play individual songs from a variety of different devices on their home network, and 32% value these abilities in regard to full-length albums, in both cases emphasizing broad access to locally stored content.

Media Adapter Companies Missing Their Market, Says Parks Associates

Parks Associates says technology companies developing digital media adapters (DMAs) made a gross miscalculation by assuming high ownership of home networks--and, in particular, wireless networks--within their target market. According to a recent Parks study, 71percent of households willing to purchase a DMA do not have a home network, and 86 percent do not have wireless technology in their home.

Parks Associates Predicts 15 Million On-demand Movie Consumers by 2008

Parks Associates released a forecast last week predicting significant growth in Internet-based video services over the next four years, with users exceeding 15 million by the end of 2008.
