Will "Transparent" Save Amazon? Netflix, HBO May Feel Heat From Acclaimed New Original Series

Amazon does not disclose numbers related to Amazon Prime, but Ben Schachter at Macquarie estimated the service has at least 20 million users, which would put it in second place after Netflix, with more than 35 million subscribers. A Parks Associates survey in May showed that 20 percent of U.S. household subscribe to Amazon Prime Video, and the service has surpassed other streaming services including Hulu Plus.

AT&T-DirecTV Merger Rumor: Satellite Customers Vow To Flee If Companies Join Forces

The Comcast merger is likely to be seen as a test case for how regulators will look at a potential merger between AT&T and DirecTV. Comcast’s argument has been that the merger doesn’t violate antitrust laws because Comcast and Time Warner Cable don’t compete in the same markets. 'Apple will unveil low-end iPhone 4S in September, iPhone 5 in 2012'

If Apple offers an iPhone in the range of $300-400, then it can easily grab a lot of market share in the emerging world where prices are steep. "That would broaden the iPhone's market to a much bigger one and be more effective to fend of competition from Android phones," said Harry Wang, a mobile analyst with Parks Associates.

Apps Come Into Their Own

Technology research firm, Parks Associates says in 2010, 4.6 billion mobile apps will have been downloaded. By 2014, Parks projects that number to reach 11 billion. App store GetJar, the self proclaimed second biggest app store on the planet, said it's downloads recently crossed the one billion mark.
