AT&T's DirecTV Now Is A Big Bundle When Consumers Want Skinny
DirecTV Now, something of an online replica of AT&T's satellite offering, will face more competition than its analog ever had on land. There's the genuinely skinny bundle of Dish Network's (DISH) SlingTV, which charges $20 a month for 30 channels and $25 a month for 44 channels. In the less than two years since it was launched, SlingTV has attracted more than 1 million subscribers, according to a study by Dallas market research and consulting company Parks Associates.

Samsung, Take Note: Galaxy Gaffe Gives Apple an Opening
In the U.S., Apple is king, garnering about 40% of the market share, according to a report by Parks Associates. "Apple remains the dominant smartphone manufacturer in the U.S., but Samsung is catching up," said Harry Wang, director of Health & Mobile Product Research at Parks Associates. "Apple controls 40% of the smartphone market, while Samsung has 31% and LG is the next closest rival with 10%."

Roku Remains On Top Of The Streaming Media Market
According to research from Parks Associates from this past May, Roku led all of its competitors in sales from first quarter 2015 to first quarter 2016, with its set-top boxes accounting for 30% of the marketplace. Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOGL) tied for second with a 22% slice of the market each, and Apple TV claimed 20%.

HBO's Online Deal With Apple Is Risky Bet for Time Warner
How many folks will sign on for HBO Now is unclear. Time Warner's HBO Go online service for subscribers of HBO on cable or satellite, benefits from hefty promotion from operators who share in the subscription revenues. Apple isn't likely to send out mailers or aggressivfely promote HBO Now as those partners have done in the past.

Buy Netflix Ahead of Earnings on Overseas Growth, Cord-Cutting Trend
Seven years after Netflix introduced its online streaming service, 55% of U.S. broadband households subscribe to a streaming TV service like Netflix, according to industry reporting firm Parks Associates, and the trend has only just begun.
Analysts still expect Netflix to grow earnings at a 40% annual rate over the next five years. The stock has an average 12-month price target of $390, suggesting 15.6% gains from current levels.

Will Amazon Web TV Take Out Roku and Apple TV?
Amazon is said to be moments away from releasing its own device to compete against a growing field of competitors including Apple TV, Netgear NeoTV, Google Chromecast, Roku, Sony, and others.
According to Parks Associates, Roku enjoys the pole position in video streamers with about a 37% market share, followed by No. 2 Apple TV at 24%. Parks also predicts the number of devices will almost double to around 330 million by 2017.
