TV Everywhere Usage Reaches 40% Among U.S. Pay-TV Customers

Usage of authenticated video viewing, or TV Everywhere, reached 40 percent of U.S. pay-TV consumers in 2015, up from 22 percent in 2013, according to Parks Associates.

The Entertainment Habits on Connected CE Devices report shows the percentage of respondents watching authenticated video at least once a month is 23 percent, which both broadens and deepens the online video audience for pay-TV providers.

4K Takes Off

In the U.S., the proportion of TV households with 4K—which delivers four times as many pixels as HD—will reach 34 percent in 2019, according to research firm IHS. Penetration in European Union countries will hit 25 percent by then. Majority of U.S. Broadband Households Use Up to One OTT

NEW YORK: Up to 58 percent of broadband households in the U.S. use at least one OTT video service on a monthly basis, according to new Parks Associates findings.

The research firm also found that more than 25 percent of households use two or more services.

Europe's Connected TV Market Surpasses U.S.

The adoption of PC-to-TV connections in Europe has exceeded that of the U.S. market, according to Parks Associates.

The New European Entertainment and Internet of Things research finds that among broadband households, 54 percent in Spain have connected a PC to the TV. In the U.K. and Germany, it's 38 percent. This compares to the 32 percent reported in the U.S.

Parks Associates: TV-Related Apps Gaining in Popularity

New research from Parks Associates shows that usage of TV apps is on the rise, with 55 percent of U.S. smartphone owners and 61 percent of tablet owners using TV-related applications at least once a month.

The firm expects the number of global TV-app users to reach 1.29 billion by 2019.

Online Video Use on Smart TVs On the Rise

The percentage of U.S. smart TV owners using those devices to access movies and TV shows online has risen by more than 30 percent in the last six months, according to new research from Parks Associates.
