According to a new report from Parks Associates, more than six million people are expected to use a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) device by 2021, nearly double the 3.36 million who are estimated to have used one at the end of 2017.

The research firm says this anticipated growth will be driven by new wearable devices, such as smart watches, and smartphone-based professionally monitored services.

Even among U.S. households with broadband service, newly released market research from Parks Associates found that less than 30 percent of respondents were familiar with where to buy smart-home products or services.
