Is Netflix-TiVo plan a doable vision?

The various distribution ideas have one huge hang-up: Companies that want to send video to the home have to get permission to do so, and movie studios are a finicky bunch.

"It'll slowly get better, but a big part of the problem is that the studios are still very nervous about putting their content out there," said John Barrett, research director at industry analysis firm Parks Associates of Dallas. "They're afraid of being pirated, and they have licensing things to sort out," Barrett said.
