Alarm.com and SDG&E to Discuss Benefits of "Reduce Your Use" Thermostat Pilot Program at Smart Energy Summit Keynote

Parks Associates today announced Alarm.com and utility San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will discuss opportunities emerging from their groundbreaking cooperative thermostat program in the opening keynote address "Partnering for Success in Home Energy Management" at the fourth-annual Smart Energy Summit, February 25-27 in San Antonio, Texas.

"SDG&E is leveraging a deployed connected device, in this case an Alarm.com thermostat, in this unique program," said Tom Kerber, Director, Research, HomeControls and Energy, Parks Associates. "This important program could demonstrate new opportunities to both utilities and device manufacturers that will impact energy usage without having to go through lengthy pilot programs. This keynote will provide invaluable perspective to Smart Energy Summit attendees."

Parks Associates, host of Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, reports consumer interest in energy-saving devices is increasing, provided the solutions are minimally invasive. Nearly 50% of U.S. broadband households are very interested in a thermostat capable of automatic adjustments to save money. The Alarm.com/SDG&E program is noteworthy as it leverages devices already in the home.

Roy Perry, VP, Ecosystem Alliances, Alarm.com, and Ted Reguly, Director,Customer Programs and Projects, SDG&E, will discuss partnerships and business models that leverage the growing base of connected devices in U.S. homes during their keynote on February 26 at 9 a.m.
