Apps do have a place on TV

Brett Sappington, Director, Research at Parks Associates, says TV apps are important because they are the first step away from the traditional grid-based programme guide, which has been the primary interface to content for consumers. For him, discovery apps are the ones that will matter most on the TV screen. “By their nature, apps that help match consumers to content help get consumers to their desired content quickly, facilitating rather than interrupting the viewing experience.
