Comcast hoping ‘skinny bundle’ ?will turn cord cutters into subscribers

The service comes as Comcast and other cable TV operators are facing cord cutters – or those who don’t subscribe to traditional cable TV bundles – and who seek fewer TV channels at lower prices.

HBO and CBS have launched streaming services outside the pay TV packages to sell to consumers unhappy with traditional pay TV bundles.

Netflix and Hulu also now sell their streamed entertainment to millions of subscribers.

The research firm Parks Associates, moreover, recently estimated that 8.4 million U.S. households subscribe to an Internet service and an on-demand streaming service, but no pay TV.
