Comcast launches consumer IT support service

Americans spent $2 billion on home tech support in 2010, according to consumer electronics market research firm Parks Associates. Parks recently conducted a survey of U.S. consumers with home Internet service. The results included:

• 75 percent prefer to receive all technical support services from a single vendor.
• 50 percent look to their broadband provider as their first or second choice in solving home-computer technical issues.
• 10 percent of those who contact broadband provider learn the problem is not related to their Internet service.
