CONNECTION Europe addresses new video distribution platforms

Parks Associates today announced Owen Hanks, General Manager, Mobile, Europe, YuMe, will deliver the closing keynote at CONNECTIONS™ Europe, following a day of sessions and research presentations on monetization and business models for multiscreen services and video value-added services. The international research firm, which hosts the executive conference 13-14 November in Amsterdam, forecasts Western European online and mobile video advertising revenues will reach $2.3 billion in 2012.

ONNECTIONS™ Europe focuses on video value-added services and features executive speakers from service providers Orange, Sky Deutschland, Deutsche Telekom AG, and Ziggo. Broadband providers will equip their customers with over 75 million routers and residential gateways worldwide in 2012, increasing to over 120 million by 2017. These devices will deliver advanced video services, but given current economic challenges and consumer resistance to new fees, providers must explore new business models, including advertising-based services, to drive early adoption.

"The expansion of video services to multiple platforms is creating new opportunities for advertising, multiscreen services, value-added services like tech support, and user interfaces," said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. "Providers must find ways to subsidize new services through partnerships and advertising in order to monetize the increased cost of new services. At CONNECTIONS™ Europe, we will discuss these strategies, plus ways to move consumers into premium video services."

Mr. Hanks will address the changing advertising landscape at 15:45 on November 14. Parks Associates forecasts Western European online and mobile video advertising revenues will reach $4 billion in 2016. In North America, online and mobile video advertising revenues will grow from $3.5 billion in 2012 to over $6 billion in 2016.
