Fixed WiMax Subs to Pass 7M

By the end of 2009, there will be more than 7 million subscribers worldwide using broadband wireless services based on 802.16REVd technology, the fixed flavor of WiMAX, according to Untethering Broadband: WiMAX, 802.20, and Others, a new report from Parks Associates.

On June 24, 2004, the IEEE approved 802.16REVd as IEEE 802.16-2004, and the final edited standard will be published in late July. The new standard should encourage further development and innovation in fixed broadband wireless solutions, according to Parks Associates.
