A survey from Parks Associates in the US has revealed that American seems to have a good grasp of what voice over IP (VoIP) is, and more importantly, they want it. Based on the responses from over 3,000 people, half all households that already have Internet access inAmerica say they are interested in VoIP telephone services. "Consumers are looking at VoIP service as a replacement for their primary phone line, not as a secondary backup," said John Barrett, a research analyst at Parks Associates. "The market is still searching for a 'killer' broadband application. Wouldn't it be ironic if it turned out to be telephone service?" he said.
