Let’s forget ridiculously priced set-top-boxes for a moment and turn our heads to the surprisingly affordable and ridiculously useful Chromecast, which according to a survey is amongst the preferred method of streaming movies, TV, and more amongst people surveyed in 10,000 U.S. homes with a broadband Internet connection.

According to research firm Parks Associates, they found that out of 10,000 U.S. homes questioned, 10 per cent purchased wither a streaming stick like the Chromecast or media player like the Roku or Apple TV during the first ten months of 2014. The firm also found that the Roku was the most popular media player with 29 per cent of sales, followed closely by the Chromecast with 20 per cent of sales. The more expensive Apple TV received 17 per cent of sales, and Amazon’s Fire TV stick only received 10 per cent.
