The implementation of smart meters throughout the world has grown exponentially over the past couple of years. Approximately 100 million smart meters are projected to be deployed in Europe by 2014, and some of the key drivers impacting the deployment are similar across a number of regions, says Bill Ablondi, Director of Home Systems Research, Parks Associates. The development of technology, rising demand for energy and regulatory standards all play a role in upgrading the worlds antiquated electric power grids.
