Shakeout expected in home networking market

Still, many analysts hesitate to speculate how any one protocol will fare in the home networking industry, citing the market's embryonic state. The 802.11b and HomeRF standards, for example, are the only standards, in addition to wired Ethernet, to have gained significant market share. In the wireless realm, Parks Associates, a Dallas-based research firm, expects a 50-50 market split next year between HomeRF and 802.11.
