Study sees home control sales hitting $2.8B in 2006

In a new study, Dallas-based Parks Associates reports that home controller sales, representing a variety of home management applications, will increase by more than $1 billion during the next five years.  Home Systems: Home Controls Forecasts predicts that, between 2002 and 2006, growth will be particularly strong in entertainment, lighting, communications, and central home controllers.

"There are two major variables that will significantly increase penetration of specific solutions in the home controls industry," says Kurt Scherf, Parks' vice president of research.  He identifies them as structured wiring solutions and lower-cost, Internet-enabled control systems.

Overall, according to the study, the market for advanced and basic home controllers will grow from $1.6 billion in 2002 to $2.8 billion by the end of 2006.
