The 2013 Cable Show
Based on research from Parks Associates, Hulu Plus is most likely to cannibalize broadcast TV viewing. Over one-half of Hulu Plus subscribers watch programs on Hulu Plus instead of watching them on broadcast TV. In other research findings…
- 26 percent of U.S. broadband households own a smart TV and 46 percent own at least one set-top box.
- 63 percent of smart TV owners connect the set to the Internet, and 79 percent of these owners use the TV to watch premium online video on a monthly basis.
- 22 percent of U.S. broadband consumers check or update their social network on a smartphone or tablet while watching TV.
- Consumers will increase their weekly mobile video and TV viewing by 175 percent from 2012 to 2017.
The times are changing, no doubt.
