Many others involved in home automation also feel security dealers have more potential to increase revenues substantially by expanding and diversifying into different types of installation. In recent years, home theatre has been the most popular option, says Steven Triolet of Parks Associates, but other systems such as multi-room audio/video, central home controller systems, intelligent lighting systems, etc., can be incorporated into the installing dealer's growing business.   Contained in a report by Parks Associates, The Business of Home Automation, are the profit margins dealers can realize from various products. For example, a home control installation is estimated to bring in $5,200 profit margin; audio is estimated at $3,575 profit margin; and lighting is estimated at $3,250 profit margin.

"The expanded installations also help to increase customer satisfaction and speed up market penetration for both security and home automation in general," Triolet comments.
