WiMax to be used by 7m in 2009

According to new research, by the end of 2009 there will be 7 million subscribers globally to the much-hyped WiMax standard. US-based research firm Parks Associates has said that the number of people using the wireless standard will grow after the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) gives its final nod of approval to the 802.16 (WiMax) standard this year. It is expected that industry will then back the technology, and will begin to look more closely at developing hardware for deployment.
