Worldwide Fixed WiMAX Subscribers to Surpass 7 Million in 2009

By the end of 2009, there will be more than seven million subscribers worldwide using broadband wireless services based on 802.16REVd technology, the fixed flavor of WiMAX, according to "Untethering Broadband: WiMAX, 802.20 and Others", a new report from Parks Associates.

On June 24, 2004, the IEEE approved 802.16REVd as IEEE 802.16-2004, and the final edited standard will be published in late July. The new standard should encourage further development and innovation in fixed broadband wireless solutions, according to Parks Associates.
